Analysis of Carbon Mitigation Strategies for typical US cities

Achievement/Results

Analysis of Greenhouse gas Mitigation strategies in typical US cities: Energy efficiency, renewable energy, urban design, local regulations, price- and behavioral-feedback strategies are evaluated across buildingsāˆ’facilities, transportation, and materials/waste sectors in cities, comparing voluntary versus regulatory action configurations. The analysis shows strategic combination of behavioral strategies and regulatory policies are essential to achieve measurable GHG mitigation. A peer-reviewed paper on this analysis has been published in the journal of Environment Science and Technology:

Ramaswami, A., Bernard, M., Chavez, A., et al. (2012). Quantifying Carbon Mitigation Wedges in US Cities: Near-Term Strategy Analysis and Critical Review. Environ. Sci & Technol. DOI: 10.1021/es203503a.
