Faculty participants in the National Science Foundation Integrative Graduate Education and Research (IGERT) program on Indoor Environmental Science and Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, in collaboration Dr. Jelena Srebric at Penn State University, were awarded a project on indoor air quality and ventilation in retail environments. This project is the largest project that ASHRAE has ever awarded and will both benchmark the indoor environmental quality and ventilation rates in retail stores as well as measure the optimal ventilation rate for different types of stores from both building energy and indoor air quality perspectives. A total of five IGERT students are working on this project including IGERT trainees Shahana Khurshid and Jorge Urquidi and IGERT affiliates Andrew Hoisington, Elna Nirlo, and Marwa Farhat.
