Achievement/Results

Scott Page, the PI, who has written two books on diversity as part of this IGERT, organized a one-day retreat for the Department of Education with Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan. During the summer, he testified before the House Science and Technology Committee on the importance of having multiple models of the economy. And, in the winter, he and Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, briefed the Air Force Chief Norton Schwartz and the three-star generals of the U.S. Air Force on the importance of diversity.

Address Goals

These two events will help cultivate a broadly inclusive science and engineering workforce by raising awareness of diversity at the highest levels of government. They also relate to discover with respect to the science of diversity and advancing the understanding of the economy.
