Hands Free Interfaces

Achievement/Results

Students with disabilities participate in research on alternative interfaces that allow hands free interactions with computers. Students with disabilities participate as both domain experts who have intimate experience with the problems of accessibility and as research scientists seeking empirical evidence to guide design innovation. The students personal experiences allow them to approach the problems with a deep empathy for the problem and the critical, disciplined view of a scientist.

Address Goals

This research provides not only access to STEM fields for students with disabilities but provides a deep level of engagement, where their experiences and empathy become important motivations to guide disciplined scientific enquiry.
